A broad aim of this master class is to introduce the participants to the international perspectives on heritage. The participants will be introduced to the heritage organizations such as ICOMOS, World Heritage, and World Monuments Fund.
This master class will help the participants to understand the importance of heritage conservation globally, and the role of international heritage bodies. The number of professional bodies, NGOs and funding agencies that are involved in heritage conservation activities across the globe. Some of the key organizations include UNESCO, ICCROM, IUCN, WMF, Global Heritage Fund and so forth. We will explore the role and activities of some of these organizations and understand their contribution to heritage conservation India.
Upon completion of this course the participants should –
Create an awareness about the different socio-political contexts on the global scale. Develop an awareness of the various strategies and methods of heritage conservation that have been proposed in different cultures. Critically understanding the efforts seen world over by assessing their successes, failures and legacies. Analyze how the different attitudes in heritage conservation serve to inform our own, and how they may expand or question our own methods of working Gain introduction to the notions of value and significance associated with cultural heritage globally. Develop basic knowledge of the global approaches to conservation. Start thinking critically about the present and future of historic heritages.
The course will be taught by the staff at INTACH Heritage Academy and invited guest speakers on specific aspects of the course.
