Aim
The aim of this workshop is to familiarize participants with the conservation process by exploring the cultural values, significance, and Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) of built heritage, using Chandigarh as a key focus. It will help the participants gain insights into the assessment of heritage sites, alongwith the principles and processes of conserving the built heritage.
Content
Through the workshop, the participants will be introduced to the various aspects of built heritage with a focus on Chandigarh’s history, architecture, and identity. Through case studies and site visits, participants will learn methods of identifying, assessing significance, and conserving built heritage. The workshop will also explore the challenges of conservation, from planning to execution.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course the participants will be able to –
- Identify types of built heritage and associated values.
- Recognise the processes and challenges in conservation of built heritage.
- Discuss the significance of the built heritage of Chandigarh.
