Aim

The broad aim of the CPD is to understand the methods and approaches to engage with the interrelationships of heritage, environment and climate change.

Content

The CPD will introduce the concepts of heritage, environment and climate change in the age of urbanisation. Heritage elements are in vulnerable condition, mostly so as it is constantly exposed to the environment. In addition to this, the threat of climate change has the power of making a significant impact on it.

Hence it becomes crucial to look at it from a unique standpoint which takes into account historic urban landscapes, geo heritage, assessment of environmental impact and environmental impact of cultural and social practices in urban and rural India etc. The course discusses how environmental elements, heritage and climate change dynamics affect each other and form a unique array of interrelations.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course the participants will be:

  • Introduced to the interrelationships between cultural practices, environment and climate change
  • Encouraged to start thinking critically about the issues related to heritage and environment
  • Imparted basic knowledge of the approaches to integrate nature and culture in sustainable development
