Heritage Awards for Excellence in Documentation of Unprotected Heritage – 2019

This publication contains 25 entries that were found eligible for the Awards selection. The 2019 Awards brought in a specific theme of ‘Water and Heritage’, resulting in entries that documented human response to water in the form of built water edges, water holding structures, built forms connected with water, as well as water systems at a larger scale. The primary focus of documentation is on heritage buildings and sites that may not be as popular as iconic monuments and sites or under the custodianship of the Central or State Governments.

Heritage Awards for Excellence in Documentation of Unprotected Heritage – 2018

This publication contains 35 entries that were found eligible for the Awards selection. The primary focus of documentation is on heritage buildings and sites that may not be as popular as iconic monuments and sites or under the custodianship of the Central or State Governments. An eminent jury of experts from India reviewed all entries and made final recommendations for awards under the seven categories.

One of the key values of this publication lies in its use as a resource for understanding how to identify and map heritage site, how to draw and document these sites and how to assess and analyse their significance at the local and regional level. The history of evolution of a site or sometimes an entire settlement can be illustrated with the help of this documentation. There are overall site plans; building plans, sections and elevations; and construction details, supported by descriptive text and photographs for each heritage building and site.

HHeritage Awards for Excellence in Documentation of Unprotected Heritage – 2017

This publication contains 54 entries that were found eligible for the Award selection. The documentation is focused on heritage buildings and sites that have not been documented before and may not be as popular as the iconic monuments and sites under the custodianship of the Central or State Governments. Another useful aspect of this publication is that it can be used as an excellent resource for teaching how to identify and map heritage sites, how to draw and document these sites and how to assess and understand their significance at the local and regional level. The history of evolution of a site or sometimes an entire settlement can be illustrated with the help of this documentation. There are overall site plans; building plans, sections and elevations; and construction details, supported by descriptive text and photographs for each heritage building and site.

The INTACH Heritage Awards 2017 Publication was received in the month of September and a complimentary copy of the same has been sent to over 300 colleges of architecture affiliated with Council of Architecture.
