Aim
This workshop will focus on the legal mechanisms that can be used for the protection of built heritage along with some case studies of the same.
Content
Built heritage is usually a part of a community with individuals being stakeholders at various levels and is subject to various legislative regulations and instruments. In this workshop we will be looking at these legal regulations and how they have been used by activists and heritage lovers to protect heritage in their community. We will also look at the ways in which these mechanisms can be used to incentivise the protection of heritage by owners or stewards. In this workshop the participants will understand the important role that INTACH members can play in heritage protection and the usage of laws and legal regulations to help them in safeguarding the heritage.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this workshop the participants will be able to:
- Interpret the importance and role of people in protection of built heritage
- Apply the legal instruments that can be used for built heritage protection
