Risk Preparedness in Museums

AimThe broad aim of the Master class is to understand the risks involved in museums and various methods towards its preparation.
ContentThis master class will explore some of the key issues related to collection management and presentation, along with assessing their risks involved in Indian museums. These risks will identify some of the challenges that a museum faces with risk preparedness, curator-ship and future of museums in India. In addition to these issues we will also explore what risks are involved with the growth of new technologies, social media and innovative ideas that are incorporated into museums.
Learning OutcomesUpon completion of this course the participants should –
- Develop an understanding of the risks involved in designing and curating museums.
- Understand the functioning and risk preparedness of the museums.
- Develop an understanding of museum studies and a range of issues related to it.
- Start thinking critically about the future of museums in a society and how to link museums at a global level.
SpeakersThe course will be taught by the staff at INTACH and invited guest speakers on specific aspects of the course.
